MDMA Applauds CMS Proposed Rule to Accelerate Patient Access to Innovative Medical Technologies

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) issued the following statement today applauding the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) proposed rule “Medicare Coverage of Innovative Technology and Definition of Reasonable and Necessary” that would provide accelerated coverage for innovative medical technologies:

“MDMA applauds this proposed rule that would accelerate patient access to medical technologies by providing coverage for innovative medical devices,” said Mark Leahey, President and CEO of MDMA.  “MDMA has long advocated for updated coverage policies that would allow innovative therapies and technologies to get into the hands of patient and providers in an expedited manner, and we look forward to continue working with CMS, the Administration, Congress and all stakeholders to narrow the gap between regulatory and reimbursement decisions that will bolster patient care.  It is critical that we improve the reimbursement landscape so that patients throughout the United States get timely access to medical technology innovation.”
