CMS Issues Recommendations on Restoring “Elective” Surgeries

CMS released new guidance today on restoring “elective” surgeries and procedures that have been postponed as a result of COVID-19, which can be viewed by CLICKING HERE.  This follows the White House release of a 3-Phase approach to “opening” the nation and the economy as respective states and communities confront the impact of the pandemic.  This plan can be viewed by CLICKING HERE.

Various states are beginning to issue executive orders and announced plans to slowly begin to normalize hospital operations in regions where they believe it is appropriate.  California and Texas have taken these steps, and you can review their respective proposals by CLICKING HERE and CLICKING HERE

MDMA continues to work closely with medical societies and other stakeholders on ways to reasonably and appropriately start “elective” surgeries.  MDMA remains actively engaged with our Reimbursement Working Group to discuss the “roadmap” we are developing for policy makers and other ideas our industry can work on as we all confront the COVID-19 pandemic, and its impact on patient care and the health care delivery system.
