MDMA Statement on the Administration’s Announcement on Elective Surgeries

WASHINGTON, DC -- Mark Leahey, President and CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA), issued the following statement regarding the Administration’s announcement of guidelines to resume elective surgeries in light of the COVID-19 pandemic:

“The top priority for medical technology innovators is to support patients and health care professionals as they confront the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is also critical that we ensure a smooth and appropriate transition for patients to have access to all lifesaving and life-changing technologies and procedures.

“We commend the Administration for providing federal guidance to safely allow elective surgeries to resume, relying on the physician community and circumstances in a particular geographic area.  MDMA will continue to work with all stakeholders and policy makers so that America’s patients have access to the cures and therapies that they need.”
