MDMA Statement on Proposed Medical Technology

Payment Reforms by CMS

WASHINGTON, DC -- Mark Leahey, President and CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA), issued the following statement on the inclusion of new payment reforms for medical technologies in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) proposed rule for the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS):

“MDMA applauds CMS’ proposal for bridging the gap between the regulatory pathways and securing reimbursement for medical technologies.  Medical technologies are only transformative when they are accessible to patients and physicians, and the reforms in the proposed IPPS rule would advance this shared priority.

“MDMA is committed to working with CMS, Congress and other policy makers to help expedite patient and provider access to safe and effective cures, while making sure America’s patients are the first to benefit from American innovations.”
