Robert S. Kieval Joins MDMA Board of Directors

Washington, D.C., January 31, 2007 – The Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) recently welcomed to its Board of Directors Robert S. Kieval, V.M.D., Ph.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of CVRx in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

Kieval stated, “I am honored to serve on the Board of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association. MDMA has played a vital role over the past fifteen years to ensure that the voice of innovative, entrepreneurial companies is represented in Washington.”

As a founder of CVRx, Kieval served as its President and CEO between 2001 and 2006, guiding the company’s FDA clinical trial process for its flagship product, the Rheos Barorefelx Hypertension Therapy System. He also raised substantial private equity financing. In 2006, Kieval was named an Innovator of the Year by Twin Cities Finance and Commerce. Kieval earned his bachelor of arts from the University of Pennsylvania, where he later earned his doctorate of physiology and doctorate of veterinary medicine. Kieval has been involved in the medical device industry for 14 years and holds
nineteen U.S. patents.
