Jeffrey Shuren, M.D.
Director, Center for Devices and Radiological Health, Food & Drug Administration
Dr. Shuren is the Director, Center for Devices and Radiological Health at the Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Shuren received his medical doctorate degree from Northwestern University and his juris doctorate degree from the University of Michigan. He is board certified in Neurology, and served as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Cincinnati. In 1998, Dr. Shuren joined the FDA as a medical officer in the Office of Policy. In 2001, he became the Director of the Division of Items and Devices in the Coverage and Analysis Group at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Dr. Shuren returned to the FDA as the Assistant Commissioner for Policy in 2003, and assumed the position of Associate Commissioner for Policy and Planning in 2008.
