MDMA Applauds Legislation to Strengthen the R&D Tax Credit

03/09/2011

WASHINGTON, DC – Mark Leahey, President and CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA), issued the following statement today on the “American Research and Competitiveness Act of 2011,” which would strengthen the research and development tax credit and make it permanent:

“We applaud Representatives Brady, Larson, Paulsen and Eshoo for their leadership on an issue that is critical to medical technology entrepreneurs and innovators.  In order to drive job creation and improve patient care, innovators need to plan for future investments and strategies, and this can only be done when there are predictable tax and regulatory policies in place.

“This important legislation would help ensure that med-tech entrepreneurs can initiate important research and development to deliver tomorrow's therapies, and MDMA looks forward to working with supporters of the bill to help spur innovation.”
