Senate HELP Committee Holds Panel on Rare Diseases and Medical Devices

The U.S. Senate HELP Committee held a hearing to promote the development of new treatments and cures for rare pediatric diseases.

Minnesota Senator Al Franken spoke about the importance of identifying “a better way to make sure our research infrastructure and financial incentives produce treatments for both prevalent and rare diseases.”

The hearing was a chance for Senators and representatives from the Department of Health and Human Services and the medical device industry to discuss how they can work together to encourage research and development, as well as drive cutting-edge advancements for rare pediatric diseases.
