House Committee Holds Forum on Jobs and Innovation
The House Energy and Commerce Committee held a forum in Washington, DC this week on innovation and the impact FDA is having on medical technology entrepreneurs. The event is the first in a series of discussions to examine how Congress can help improve the regulatory environment, and enact legislation that will spur job creation.
Executives in the medical device industry addressed the rising challenges facing this dynamic industry, as well as the impact the medical device tax will have.
"MDMA thanks the House leadership and the Energy and Commerce Committee for helping to lead efforts in bringing about more predictability and reasonableness with the regulatory pathway for medical technologies," said MDMA President and CEO Mark Leahey. "While we often talk about data and timelines, at the end of the day patient care and innovation are what suffer the most in the current environment. MDMA continues to work with Members of Congress, the administration and FDA to ensure medical technology entrepreneurs can thrive, and deliver on the promises of better health care and job creation."
