MDMA Response to the State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, DC – Mark Leahey, President and CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA), issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s State of the Union Address last night:

“We couldn’t agree more with the President that we need to generate more of the jobs of tomorrow here in the United States, while shipping more American products overseas.

“The medical device industry has a proud tradition of accomplishing these important goals, but the increasing complexities in today’s marketplace are alarming. It is critical that Congress acts on bipartisan policies that will support innovation, job creation and patient care, such as repealing the medical device tax and the ‘21st Century Cures’ initiative.

“We know the United States can lead the 21st century in medical technology manufacturing while creating great jobs and improving patient care, but there must be an environment in place that supports ingenuity and entrepreneurism.”
