Friday, April 4, 2014
WASHINGTON, DC – Mark Leahey, President and CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA), issued the following statement regarding efforts in the Senate Finance Committee to address the medical device tax in the "Expiring Provisions Improvement Reform and Efficiency (EXPIRE) Act":
“While we are disappointed the medical device tax was not addressed as a part of the tax extenders legislation, we remain enthusiastic about the growing bipartisan agreement that Congress needs to put an end to this devastating policy.
"We thank Senators Hatch, Toomey, Thune and Enzi for offering the amendment, and all Members who spoke in favor of eliminating this tax on innovation. MDMA remains committed to ending a policy that is destroying jobs, slowing R&D and harming patient care.”
