New Study Highlights Challenges for American R&D

A new report by the National Science Board, the policymaking body for
the National Science Foundation (NSF) detailed the strengths and
weaknesses of America's R&D sector while noting the United States
could be passed soon by competing nations.
The report, "Science and Engineering Indicators 2012," found that
Asian countries could soon pass America's leadership in crucial fields
such as med tech innovation.
"[W]e must take seriously new strategies for education, workforce
development and innovation in order for the United States to retain its
international leadership position," said NSF Director Subra Suresh.
